Can you install radiant floor heating under a Roc-Base shower base?
Yes, it’s perfectly possible to extend your underfloor heating system under the Roc-Base shower base. Thanks to the conductive nature of natural stone, you’ll enjoy thermal comfort comparable to the rest of the bathroom floor.
Is it necessary to reinforce the floor before installing a Roc-Base?
It is not necessary to reinforce the floor. However, it is mandatory to install plywood to adequately support the base over its entire bearing surface.
Should we apply a sealant?
No, no sealant is required. Roc-Base granite bases are factory-treated with a water-repellent treatment and require no additional maintenance.
Quartz bases, on the other hand, are made from an agglomerated material containing a polymer resin, making them naturally waterproof and requiring no treatment.
Can the base be drilled to install glass or shower doors?
Yes. It is possible to drill holes in the base to install glass or doors without affecting the warranty, provided you follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
That said, using clear silicone to secure the brackets is a simpler and more effective solution, avoiding the need to drill into granite or quartz.
Do you offer custom shower bases? Up to what dimensions?
Yes, we manufacture custom shower bases in both dimensions and colors. We can manufacture bases up to 120 inches long and 60 inches wide, certain conditions apply.
What is the lead time for a custom base versus a standard one?
Our turnaround time is among the fastest on the market:
- Standard model: approximately 3 to 4 business days after ordering.
- Custom base: approximately 5 to 7 business days, depending on the color and size chosen.
Is special preparation required to receive the base?
No. Just make sure the floor is level.
The base must be installed on a bed of mortar.
See our installation guide for details. (installation guide)
Do you do the installation?
No. As we are not plumbers or general contractors, we do not offer installation services.
However, all Roc-Base products are CSA C US certified, allowing any qualified contractor or plumber to install them without compromising the warranty.
